FUEL SURCHARGES

Latest News Update  – UK Fuel

Monday 13th June 2022 Update :

Unfortunately, for a situation which is vastly growing beyond our control across the UK and globally, we have no choice but to implement a 3% increase to our existing fuel surcharges to ensure we maintain our current service. Price of fuel is rising weekly and has jumped again significantly over the last 2 weeks to which we have been trying to hold and absorb but no longer can. From 13/06/2022 – our customers existing FS rate will be moved up by 3% to allow us to continue maintaining our high level standard service. As highlighted now from our association partners, Road Haulage Association (RHA) who have lobbied the UK government to help hauliers in this fuel crisis – Fuel Pricing (rha.uk.net) (Please see link here) .

Monday 25th April 2022 Update :

It is unlikely now the need to point out the ever-increasing pressures placed upon Fuels & Oils as a direct result of Global markets and the continued escalation in the Russia – Ukraine war. As all is being well published in the news across many platforms. The situation is fast spiraling out of control and shows no immediate signs of letting up.

As a result, we are placed in the unenviable position of having to increase fuel surcharges again (floating between 1-3% additionally to your existing surcharge – subject to nature of volume and turnaround if listed as a trailer account on mass collection, it can be kept to the lesser – Maximum would be 12% for anyone account / smaller volumed daily basis customers. Higher volume accounts in mass daily collections will sit between 5% to 10%) with effect from Tuesday 26th April 2022. Your custom is immensely important to us, and we always strive to absorb as much of any increases as possible, however with diesel alone having risen over 26p per litre since the conflict started, and even allowing for the Chancellors recent reduction of 5p per litre in fuel duty, we still find ourselves paying over 18% more, and I am sure you will understand that we can no longer absorb this if we are to protect service levels and product offerings. I appreciate that notice is tight, but this is a direct result of how volatile the current markets are and I sincerely hope this will not affect our excellent working relationship but that we can get through the current global crisis together and look forward to better times ahead. As always, I assure you that we will reduce these surcharges in line with any future Global downturn in the markets.

With effect from Monday 28th February 2022 our fuel surcharge will be increased by 2.45% in line with recent national increases as a result of the widely published news and sector forecasts. This is unfortunately beyond our control at this time but we will endeavor to keep all updates on our member suite as they happen.

With effect from Monday 11th October 2021 a fuel surcharge will be applied to all of our road transport service invoices as a result of fuel prices having doubled in the last 12 months, a huge impact to costs which MSD can no longer absorb. Fuel surcharges (variable) will be monitored ongoing in line with UK & European markets and supply. Currently at 9%.
