THE FORTEC DISTRIBUTION NETWORK IS GEARING UP FOR GROWTH IN THE PALLET MARKET WITH THE APPOINTMENT OF A NEW TEAM TO DRIVE THE BUSINESS FORWARD

Fortec’s Business Unit Director, Craig Johnson, brings with him a reputation for creating and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. A key focus will be on improving efficiency, productivity, Health & Safety and operational excellence across the network. He will also have responsibility for taking the business to the next level whilst maintaining Fortec’s ethos of delivering a high quality service to customers as its top priority.

Joining him in that task is newly appointed General Manager, Operations, Graeme Morris, Steve Wyton General Manager, Commercial and Stuart White, UK and International Hub Manager at Watford Gap, Fortec’s operational heart.

Together they have decades of experience in distribution which will enable them to build on Fortec’s stable and robust network to win more business in the growing market.

Craig joined Fortec with previous experience at Kuehne + Nagel, Eddie Stobart, FedEx and Culina.

Graeme, who started his career at Eddie Stobart, rose to become a Regional Transport Manager for Kuehne + Nagel, during which time he successfully implemented a brand new hub in the South for the company, before joining Fortec.

Steve has been with Fortec for almost 8 years in his role as Regional Commercial Manager for the Midlands. In this new expanded role, Steve will now be responsible for the commercial activity for both Fortec and its members throughout the UK and Ireland.

Stuart has an in-depth experience of the sector, having started his career as a picker before swiftly moving up the managerial ladder to become a Warehouse Manager responsible for more than 150 people at a 24-hour-a-day operational site for Kuehne + Nagel.

Craig Johnson said: “Fortec Distribution is a forward-looking organisation and I am very pleased to be joining it at this important phase of its development. I look forward to building on its many strengths and expanding the business. We also have one of the strongest and most loyal member bases in the marketplace which is a tremendous asset and provides a strong foundation for future growth.

More and more businesses are recognising the advantages of a using a high-quality and cost-effective pallet network to deliver their goods and with a strong operational team at the helm 2018 is promising to be a year of growth and opportunity for Fortec.”

The four appointments were made following the departures of General Manager, Operations Chris Dennigan and Network Director Dave Spong who left the business last year.

Craig Johnson said: “We would like to thank both Chris and Dave for the work they have done for the network over the years and wish them well in their careers.”

Fortec has more than 80 members across the UK, many of whom have been with the network for a considerable number of years. Priding itself on the stability and strength of its network, Fortec nonetheless is positioning itself for further growth.

It has long been at the forefront of service innovation in the sector. One of the first to offer full track and trace, as well as signature capture on mobile devices of Proof of Delivery, it has also developed a suite of IT services which improve the end customer experience, including its own App, Fortec Connect, that works on Android mobile devices.
